Half an hour to go. A lot of Finns and Swedes waiting to get on the Bangkok plane. Some people already wearing flip-flops.

Bye-bye, Vanta airport.

Shortly about the Helsinki - Bangkok plane.
It was a Boeing MD-11, with 3 rows of seats. The side rows have 3 seats, the middle one has 4.
The economy class seats are OK, with sufficient space for legs (well, unless you are 200cm in height). On the top part each seat has 2 adjustable "wings" to hold your head while sleeping, so it does not move sideways. I personally found it more comfortable than Samsonite travel pillow.
We were served hot food 2 times - dinner few hours after take-off, and breakfast before landing.
Got to choose between salmon and meatballs. Both were fine. Especially fine was the fact that we got to choose in the first place. Beer and wine were free of charge, not like cognac or whiskey.

Staff and service was good, everybody managed to fit in their hand luggage with no problems.

The flying was very good and stable, no shaking at all.

The plane was full, as are most of the Finnair flights to Bangkok nowadays. Make your bookings in advance.

The single issue with the flight was that the queues to get to the toilet were long, especially before going to sleep and in the morning.

The duration of the flight was 10 hours, which passed quite quickly, probably because I met a Danish gentleman called Dan. We had a long and interesting conversation. He has been living for 36 years in Australia and has recently moved to Bangkok. At the moment he is working as an airline courier for a Thai company. I got a lot of advice, f.e. to buy 4-5 liter packs (caskets) of wine in Australia, which should cost around 12-15 AUD.

Later on the conversation moved to the topics of real-estate prices, buying land in Thailand and off-shore banking in Channel island.

After that I went to sleep for two hours, and voila! The land of Thailand seen through the window.
