Photo fairs are great.

It's so easy to test a lens or camera which your local supplier hasn't had in stock for, well, probably ever.
Putting in your own memory card, shooting with D3 + 14-24mm and examining the picture back home is much better than reading a bunch of magazine tests, where on a next page there's a big ad of the product just reviewed.
