How is it that the strongest feelings and most fascinating experiences are so difficult to express?
We have visited Kong Lo cave (though "Cave of Kong Lor" sounds better) today.
It's a 7,5 kilometer long cave under a mountain, connecting two lush valleys. It's high - sometimes up to 50 meters. And it's wide, around 100 or so meters at it's widest.

I've been to a few caves before, but how could I even start describing this one? Wide underground river flows through the whole length and it takes a motorized long tail boat half an hour to cross the cave from one entrance to another.
It reminds a lot of things, brings memories and creates a wholly new experience.
Combine the womb of the mother earth, Mines of Moria from the Lord of the Rings and prehistoric times with a feeling of being very small and unimportant, state of total helplessness and dependability of our civilization's achievements.
Even then you don't get a tenth of a feeling while in the cave.
Definitely a highlight of the trip. I just hope the cave stays relatively difficult to access and off the main road.
Most of its magnificence will be lost if the asphalt highway will be bulldozed up to the entrance.

Cave

I was reading some old Verslo klase magazines and read the article about this cave. It amazed me even from the reading I can only imagine how fascinating it is when you see it in reality!

About the light

The light is produced by head lamps of the boat men carrying the boat over the shallow parts of the underground river (it is the dry season over here you know). Also some of the light comes from the entrance of the cave, that's why we were able to make a photograph in the first place (it is an absolute darkness further inside the cave).
