Woman selling "monkey food" in Kratie market, Cambodia

A fast glimpse at a market in Kratie, Cambodia. This woman is selling "monkey food" according to locals. All I know is that it is somehow connected with lotus, and when I tried to eat it, locals were giggling quite intensively.

Even if it is not edible, being a clown in foreign country is ok.

"Lotus seed"

i don't know why in Campodia call this food is " monkey food ", i didn't hear about that before, truly it is very good for the healthy

Long time ago in Asia, that is one kind of a lot of foods they made for King.

That is a seed of Lotus, we can cook many kind of food from them, ex : make the sugar-preserved ( lotus seed ), make the soup, cook with rice... and the taste so good. You know, the pistil in this seed very good for who have insomina ( but becareful, the taste is very biiter ), you put the lotus pistil in the hot water with tea, waiting ast least 15mins and drink it, look like you drink the water for whole day....

This post is late than your travel is 2 years already, but i hope can give you some informations...!!!

I envy you traveling where people are giggling at your oddity or peradventure, not jeers at then.
