Banteay Srey temple, one of the Angkor complex
Angkor temples, day number three. After watching the birth of a waterfall on a mountain of Kbal Spean, we also were able to make it to Banteay Srey temple, and the mad rush with a tuk-tuk through the red road with red puddles was well worth it.
As a relatively small site, it can not compete with its bigger temple sisters in size. But it has another argument. Stone carvings.
Delicate carvings in Banteay Srey temple
Being a person quite interested in IT, all sorts of technical things and gadgets, I am not so much into the world of sculpture and decorations. But these carvings...
Exquisite, delicate, detailed, you name it. We have spent an hour there, but the whole day would not be too much. The local legeds say that it all was carved out by women, for the hands of men are too crude for such a fine job.

One more thing to mention - it's not just the usual, nearly flat bass relief. These works are in 3-D!
